Understanding our Beliefs in Contemporary Times
This is a forty week course introducing three sciences that blend the rational with revelation. The scholars of Islam utilised the rational sciences to defend revelation from philosophical inquisitions. The purpose of this was always to protect the sanctity of Allah’s Divine-Address khiṭāb to His servants. This course aims to introduce students to Islamic theology and legal theory rooted in logic and reasoning. It is hoped that students will, not only become aware of their own intellectual heritage, but also grow in confidence, and even apply this knowledge in their lives. An appreciation for the coherence of the Islamic creed and the subtle workings of the Islamic legal framework will open up doors to further study and inspiration, Allah willing.
